Vinyl Double & Single Hung Windows

Double hung windows are windows with two sashes that can move up and down independently. Both sashes can be opened, allowing for increased ventilation and flexibility. 

To clean double hung windows, start by removing any dust or debris from the window frame and sashes. Next, use a solution of mild soap and water and a soft cloth or sponge to clean the glass and frames. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or tools that can scratch the glass or frame. Finally, rinse the windows with clean water and dry them with a soft, lint-free cloth.

To open a double hung window from the inside, locate the latch or lock on the window sash and unlock it. Next, slide the lower sash up or the upper sash down, depending on which sash you want to open. 

Double hung windows work by sliding the sashes up and down within the frame. Each sash has a set of tracks or channels that allow it to move smoothly and stay in place when open. Most double hung windows have a locking mechanism that secures the sashes in place when closed for added security. 

A single hung is very similar in style to a double hung, with the following main difference- the top sash of a single hung window is fixed (non-operable). This means that you get more glass area because there will be less window sash material on a single hung window. In addition, you’ll only require a screen on the bottom half of the window (the operating part). Single hungs are also therefore less costly and more energy efficient (due to fewer moving parts).
